For the FCT

In late January the Vina varsity girls were honor by being recognized for scoring 17 threes (Emma Humphres, 10; Kaitlyn King, 4; and Abby Hester, 3) in the Franklin County Tournament. Other honors were combining with Brilliant and Tharptown for the most threes in a game (Vina, 11; Brilliant, 10) (Vina, 17; Tharptown, 3). Both of these games were recorded in the record book. In individual honors, Humphres’ ten threes in the Tharptown game were recorded in the AHSAA Record Book.

March 17, the AHSAA recognized Vina’s varsity girls for making 187 threes out of 658 attempts in the 2015-2016 season.

Also, three individual honors were recorded.

Humphres was honored for scoring 20 points in a quarter. She scored 20 in the fourth quarter against Tharptown in the Franklin County Tournament.

Hester was recognized for two AHSAA Seasonal Records. She had 224 assists for the season. She also had 153 steals for the season. Both were recorded in the AHSAA Record Book.

“It is a great honor for the girls to be recognized by the AHSAA for these achievements,” said Vina Coach Richie Hester. “In addition Humphres scored 501 points, Hester 378 points and King 253 points for the 2015-2016 season. The best part of it is, Humphres is a freshman, Hester is a sophomore, King is an 8th grader, and the rest of the team is returning. We’re looking for a great season next year.”
