RHS plays strong week of golf

The Russellville High School boys’ golf team played March 30 in the Hampton Cove tournament. The boys yet again showed their elite skill while going up against tough competition. Their final team score was 306, putting them in second place, falling short of only Huntsville, whose team scored 296. The boys out shot against seven teams in this tournament; leading the team was Eli Hodges with a score of 69, followed by Joshua Seal with the score of 76 and Jaceton Murray with the score of 78. Hodges also stood out as an individual at the tournament, placing first out of all 56 golfers.

At the Bob Jones Invitational March 28, the boys came in at 314, putting them in fourth behind Huntsville at 305 and Guntersville and Hartselle at 306. Hodges tied for fifth with an individual score of 74. Joshua Seal finished tied for tenth with 77. Tristen shot 81; Eric 82; and Murray 85.

RHS’ girls golf team played against Lawrence County and Danville at Deer Run Golf Course March 28. Muscles Shoals had a team score of 181, and Danville was also strong competition for the RHS girls’ golf team, but the Russellville girls had a team score of 140, winning them the competition. Leading the team was Ashton Moore with a 45, followed by Bailey Tubb, 47, Morgan Moon, 48, and Josie Willis, 48.

The girls played yesterday in the Red Bay High School Invitational; results were not available as of press time.
