RHS boys, girls claim golf victories

The Russellville High School boys’ golf team played April 4 at Chesley Oaks in an 18-hole tournament that brought victory for the Golden Tigers.

Their team score was 295, coming down a few strokes from last week, coming in first out of 22 teams – 115 golfers in all. Making it into the top 10 of the tournament were Eli Hodges (No. 2) with a score of 69, Joshua Seal (No. 3) with the score of 72 and Eric Boutwell (No. 6) with the score of 73. Hodges and Seal both made the All Tournament Team. The boys will play in the Trojan Invitational at Hampton Cove RTJ Golf Course April 21.

The girls golf team played in the Red Bay Invitational April 6. Russellville’s girls won with the team score of 287. Leading the team was Ashton Moore with 87, Morgan Moon with 99 and Josie Willis with 101. Moore won a two-hole playoff with another golfer for medalist honors. Moon also stood out during the tournament, making the All Tournament Team.

The girls will play their next match April 14 against Lawrence County at the Deer Run Golf Course.
