Second Grade hosts Career Day visitor

It’s never too early to start learning about earning and saving money – that’s one message Emily Mays, Community Spirit Bank, brought to Phil Campbell Elementary School second graders in a recent Career Day visit.

Mays visited with the second graders for a morning of learning about the career of being a “banker.” Some fun topics discussed with the classes included, who works at the bank? What do banks do with all that money?

Mays also spoke to the students about why saving money is smart, ways even students can start working toward a savings goal and how a budget helps people be wise about what they spend.

“The students really enjoyed the presentation,” said teacher Kelly Champion. “I want to thank Emily and Community Spirit Bank for supporting our school!”

Mays said students were “very eager to learn and had wonderful answers to the banking questions.”

“Their enthusiasm was contagious, and it’s clear to see they have some very bright financial futures ahead of them,” Mays said.
