Sarah “Sallie” McDougle Martin

Sarah “Sallie” McDougle Martin went to her heavenly home on May 30.

She was a lifelong resident of the Mt. Hebron Community.  She was a homemaker and loved quilting, gardening and bird watching.  She was the daughter of Nora Seigler McDougle and N. P. McDougle.

The funeral service will be held on June 5, at 3 p.m., at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with burial in Franklin Memory Gardens. Officiating will be Jerome Sherrill and Gary Yielding.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 p.m. until service time.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, E. Lester Martin; brothers, James O. McDougle, L.T. McDougle and Doyle McDougle; sisters, Lizzie Mae Stancil, Estelle Mashburn, Nettie D. Thorn and Macie Stancil.  She also was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Patrick Martin.

She is survived by two sons, L. Paul Martin and wife Wanda, Collierville, TN and Roger Martin and wife Elizabeth, Spruce Pine, AL; a daughter, Dianne Hickman and husband Maurice, Nashville, TN; six grandchildren, Ginger Ellithorpe and husband Rusty, Tara Hall and husband Louie, Greg Martin and wife Rachel, Kris Martin and wife Angela, Josh Hickman and Jon Hickman; 12 great-grandchildren, Chelsea Ellithorpe, Emily Ellithorpe, Kailey Ellithorpe, Martin Hall, Ailey Hall, Eliza Hall, Ashley Martin, Conrad Martin, Blake Martin, Alyssa Martin, Keith Martin and Jaylen Hughes; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Wayne McDougle, Jerry Taylor, Ralton Stancil, Ricky James, Neil West, Louie Hall and Charles Wallace.

A special thanks to the nurses and doctor at the Rainbow Trinity Senior Care Home in Bartlett, TN.
