Wyman R. Pounders

Wyman Royce Pounders, 63, Russellville, passed away June 13 at Helen Keller Hospital.

He lived his entire life in Franklin County and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He served as Petty Officer 3rd Class in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1983 and an active member of FOP Tri-Cities Lodge No. 5.

He was a retired police captain with the Russellville Police Department and a retired resource officer with the Russellville School System. Mr. Pounders was actively serving as Franklin County Commissioner District 2.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 15, at 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, with Daniel Welborn and Sammy Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Knights of Pythias Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the the funeral home.

Survivors include wife Roxann Pounders; children, Carrie Pounders DeArman, Cristy and husband Adam Singleton and Magen (Jaradda) Sparks; sisters, Janet and husband Keith Wright, Angie and husband Reese Bailey and Tyra King; grandchildren, Bailey Sparks, Jace Sparks, Drake Pounders, Ayden Sparks and Charlee Kate Sparks; niece, Kim James; and nephews, Houston James and Richie Landers.

Pallbearers will be David Hester, Terry Jones, James Poore, Tim Smith, Hunter Smith and Chris Nichols.

He was preceded in death by his father, Royce O’Neal Pounders; mother, Edna Louise Sanders; and sister, Elizabeth Gail James.
