DYW program opens registration

The Distinguished Young Woman Scholarship Program will be held Aug. 6 at Norton Auditorium on the campus of The University of North Alabama. Girls entering the 12th grade will have the opportunity to compete for cash scholarships as well as many other scholarships to colleges and universities. Each county winner from Colbert, Franklin and Lauderdale counties will have the opportunity to represent her county at the state program in Montgomery, January 2017.

A total of 28 young women competed in scholastics, interview, fitness, talent and self-expression categories in last year’s competition Holly Hardin of Red Bay was selected as Franklin County’s 2016 Distinguished Young Woman and represented the county in the state program in January 2016.
