Chester Childers, 68, of the Bull Mountain community, passed away June 23 at UAB Hospital, Birmingham. He was born in the Bull Mountain community, worked as a timber buyer and attended Liberty Baptist Church, Vina.
Services were June 26, at 2 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, Vina with Bro. Marshall Emerson officiating. Burial was in Newburg Cemetery, Vina.
Survivors are grandson – Austin Childers, Vina; daughter – Jennifer Watson, Vina; granddaughter – Lexi Massey, Vina; grandson – Matthew Watson, Vina; one sister – Sarah A. Smith; two brothers – Haynes Childers and wife Alene and David “Pink” Childers and wife Suzanne; special friend – Darlene Woodson and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Chester Childers, his mother, Gwendalee Shotts Childers, two brothers, Johnny Wayne “Chub” Childers and Max Young Childers and a son, Jeff Childers.
Pallbearers were Bill Childers, Josh Senkbeil, Kyle Senkbeil, Matt Senkbeil, Ken Smith, Craig Smith, Brennan Smith and Hershel Porter.
Visitation was June 26, 12-2 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, Vina.
