Weekend fire destroys Russellville home

An early morning fire rendered one Russellville home unable to be rescued.

According to fire marshal Justin Green, a call came in just before 3 a.m. of a structure fire at 208 Meadow Lane in Russellville. When the Russellville Fire Department arrived, “flames were through the roof,” Green said. “The roof was showing signs of collapse so the incident commander on scene gave the order for no one to enter the structure.” The two residents of the home has already escaped safely.

Green said firefighters “set up to protect exposures and used master streams from two RFD trucks to suppress the fire.”

“The fire is still under investigation at this time, but it is not considered suspicious,” Green said. Although he was received reports that people heard explosions at the time, “That was more than likely the tires from the four vehicles that were in the garage and parked directly outside the garage. I didn’t see any signs of an explosion.”
