JoAnn Smith Duncum

JoAnn Smith Duncum, age 65, Decatur, passed away Aug. 16 at UAB Hospital.

Mrs. Jo was a member of 16th Avenue Baptist Church in Decatur, where she was a faithful member, Sunday School teacher and a member of the choir. She was a loving wife and wonderful mother and a friend to everyone who knew her.

The visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 19 at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville. The funeral will follow at noon in the chapel. Officiating will be Bro. Roger Bond, Bro. Jerry Pounders and Bro. David Kelley. Burial will be at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Phil Campbell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Dora (Baggett) Smith, one brother and three sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 47 years, Danny Duncum; daughter, Beth Duncum; Joey’s Joy Brandy Boots; sister, Rose Ray and husband Jimmy; brother, John L. Smith; sister-in-law, Teresa Guyton; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

The pallbearers will be Jason Svatek, Justin Smith, Mickey Quillen, Joey Bailey, Barry Jones, Eddie Howard and Teddy Howard.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all friends, family and church family who have called and supported them with prayers, cards and visits during this difficult time.
