Car crashes into cakery

No one was injured when a red Pontiac Trans Am rear-ended a Russellville business Monday.

MeMe’s Cakery was closed, and the vehicle in question was unoccupied, when it reportedly rolled across the parking lot and backed into the local bakery, smashing the large display window to the right of the front entrance.

Russellville Police Department responded to the scene, where glass was shattered both inside the building and on the front sidewalk. Shards of glass protruded from the empty casing, where decorative pink fabric rippled gently in the breeze. The driver of the vehicle, who RPD said leases another business in the shopping center, was inside the hair salon when she realized her vehicle was no longer parked outside where she had left it.
