RES honors grandparents
It was almost 40 years ago that President Jimmy Carter proclaimed the annual celebration of National Grandparents Day. In Russellville City Schools, the day is a momentous occurrence worthy of fitting celebration.
Grandparents and grandchildren convened in the Russellville Elementary School cafeteria to enjoy breakfast treats on Sept. 8 and 9 of last week. Students got to learn more about their grandparents by asking them special interview questions, and some classes had created special pictures or projects to present to Grandma, Grandpa, Mimi, Nanny, Granny, Pawpaw – and so forth. The children ended the breakfast celebration with a tribute song thanking their grandparents for everything they mean to their lives.
