For the second straight week, the Red Bay Tigers found themselves trailing by two touchdowns. Last week the Tigers came roaring back and got the win. This week the rally came up just short, ending Red Bay’s unbeaten season and their 23-game regular season win streak on the Tigers’ homecoming night, 21-20.

Trailing 21-7 entering the fourth quarter, Red Bay closed the gap to 21-14 when Kolby Bragwell scored on a one-yard run with 11:53 remaining.

The Tigers pulled within one point with 5:17 to go when Bragwell hit Kaleb Burroughs for an 81-yard touchdown play that cut Lamar County’s lead to 21-20. Red Bay, however, missed the extra point, and the Bulldogs maintained the lead.

The Tigers were unable to get into scoring position again as Lamar County escaped with the win.

Lamar County scored on their first possession to go up 7-0 after forcing a Red Bay turnover. Lamar County scored again early in the second quarter to take a 14-0 lead.

Red Bay cut into Lamar County’s lead when Andrew Richardson caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Bragwell to make it 14-7.

Jordyn McKinney was crowned Red Bay’s 2016 Homecoming Queen.

The Tigers will play at Sheffield in a region matchup next Friday.
