RPD arrests one for pharmacy burglary

A Russellville man is under arrest following burglary and theft at a pharmacy Tuesday morning.

Tuesday around 6:15 a.m. officers with the Russellville Police Department responded to a suspicious persons call around Hometown Pharmacy, Police Chief Chris Hargett said. “Officers did not make contact with any individuals but did notice pry marks on the drive-thru window,” Hargett said.

Officers then began patrolling other pharmacies in the area. At around 6:32 a.m. officers were dispatched back to Hometown Pharmacy for an alarm call. Hargett said when officers arrived they noticed that the front window to the business had been broken out, so they secured the perimeter. When they heard a loud noise coming from the drive-thru window, they found the suspect attempting to leave the business. The suspect was using a wooden bat and broke the drive thru window in attempting to flee.

Hargett said officers were quick to place the suspect, Brandon Skyler Kilby under arrest, but that wasn’t the end of the story. Offiers placed Kilby into the patrol unit, and a short time later he was able to roll down the window and open the door and escape. A short foot pursuit ensued, and the Kilby was apprehended again.

Officers also investigated a residential burglary earlier in the night, and Hargett said Kilby is also the suspect in, and received charges related to, this crime as well.

Kilby, 39, was charged with two counts of burglary third degree, theft first degree, theft third degree, criminal mischief first degree, escape third degree and probation violation (felony).
