David Joseph Smith

David Joseph Smith, 48, passed away Dec. 10 at NMMC in Tupelo.

He was given as a blessing from God June 5, 1968, in Kenosha, Wis., to Bobby and Betty Smith of Red Bay. He worked as an aerospace engineer. He attended Red Bay High School and was very active in sports. He was a diehard Alabama Crimson Tide Fan and loved being with his family and friends. He was always there when they needed him. David touched many lives, and the people who met him never forgot him. He will live in all their hearts forever. He coached little league basketball and baseball in Red Bay and Defuniak Springs, Fla.

Services will be Dec. 13 at 3 p.m. at Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Lindsay officiating.

He is survived by three children, Alex Joseph Smith, Patrick Craig Smith and Mckenzie Paige Smith; his parents, Bobby and Betty Smith; four loving sisters, Lisa Massey and husband Tim of Vina, Tina Smith and husband Tim “Boker” of Belmont, Miss., Teresa Robinson and husband Andy and Shelia Smith all of Red Bay; two nieces and two nephews, Stephanie and Jordan Massey of Vina and Harley and Jacklynn Robinson of Red Bay; one great-nephew, Braxton Massey; and his best friends, Valeria Bakies-Lile and Michael and Van White.

Pallbearers will be Michael White, Van White, Jordan Massey, Harley Robinson, Ricky Garrison II and Brandon Blunt.

Visitation will be December 12 from 6-9 p.m. at Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
