FCBOE approves Hamilton contract

The superintendent role of Franklin County schools is changing hands, and the Board of Education took care of one step in that process last week with the approval of the employment contract with incoming superintendent Greg Hamilton.

Hamilton’s contract for four years indicates a base salary of $117,517.92 per year plus an expense account of $4,800 yearly, with potential pay raises as prescribed by the Alabama Legislature.

Additionally, the superintendent has access to a vehicle for use on official business and retirement/insurance benefits, as well as typical personal, sick and vacation leave identical to that for Board employees.

At its Dec. 13 meeting, the FCBOE also approved out-of-state trips, approved the class size reduction annual reports as well as the parent involvement plan and Title I Plan, approved a stipend for RBHS’ Jamie McNeil for serving as yearbook sponsor first semester ($500) and approved compensation for EFJHS’ Sherry Smith ($900) as 2016-2017 yearbook sponsor.

The board will meet in a called meeting Friday to vote on personnel items.
