A Golden, Miss., man has been arrested by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office for alleged crimes involving a 5-year-old girl.
Marcus Paul Smith Jr., 31, of Golden, Miss., was arrested Saturday and charged with sexual abuse of a child less than 12 and two counts of production of pornography.
The FCSO was looped in on the case after the Red Bay Police Department was alerted to Smith Jr.’s alleged activities.
“He sent text messages, photos and video, of him touching her, to someone, and they notified Red Bay Police Department, and they notified us about it,” according to FCSO investigators. “He was living with her and her mother in the west side of the county.”
According to FCSO investigations, DHR visited the residence and spoke with Smith Jr., who reportedly confessed to the activity, after which FCSO made the arrest and gathered evidence at the residence, assisted by the RBPD.
Smith is being held in the Franklin County Jail.
