Jewel Emerson

Jewel Emerson, 89, passed away Jan. 4 at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, Miss. She was born in Marion County and had worked as a seamstress at Lance Garment. She was a member of Pearly Gates Church of God.

Services were Jan. 6 at 3:30 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Bro. Edwin Pharr and Bro. J.C. Blackburn officiating. Burial was in Shottsville Cemetery, Vina.

Survivors are one son, Wayne Emerson and wife Della, Vina; two grandchildren, Leshia Henry and husband Joe, Nashville, and Tim Burks and wife Leigh, Vina; four great-grandchildren, Autumn Hickman, Summer Hickman, Cameron Burks and Anna Kate Burks; one sister, Louise Horton Shotts; three nephews, Gary Horton, Jeff Martin and Scotty Martin; son-in-law, Noble Burks, and sister-in-law, Mary Killingsworth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Emerson; a daughter, Judy Burks; her parents, Addie and Ruble Martin; and a brother, Kenneth Martin.

Pallbearers were Darell Humphries, Robert Moomaw, Jeff Martin, Scotty Martin, Daniel Tanner and Jay Humphries.

Visitation was Jan. 5, 6-9 p.m., at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay.
