Pilgrim’s announces Friday job fair

Due to the increase in poultry demand, Pilgrims Pride has scheduled a job fair for Feb. 10, with an intent to hire 200 workers for poultry positions available now.

According to information provided by the company, Pilgrims has “evolved as a source of employment for a great many workers from Franklin County.” Currently, 64 percent of the workers employed at Pilgrims reside in Franklin County. “Pilgrims has been a strong source of employment for this county, not only for the production labor force, but for the local agricultural business owners. Pilgrims has partnered with local poultry growers and just in 2016 the payout to growers was around $35,352,941.” Pilgrims in 2016 paid out more than $35,000,000 to employees, according to the company’s figures.

“We are inviting the surrounding communities to continue this growing trend with us. The job fair will highlight the positions available and the new pay rates. Being the largest employer in Franklin County, we feel obligated to offer ‘great jobs for great people’ – which is not only a slogan; it’s a reality.”

The Colorado-based poultry processor has been part of Franklin County since 2007.

The community is invited to attend the job fair, which will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event will be located on the complex grounds, 2045 Highway 244 in Russellville. Attendees will be given employment applications, interviews, drug tests and a tour of the interior of our facility, and Pilgrim’s will be doing immediate hiring on the spot. Job applicants are advised to wear closed-toed shoes.

Free food will also be offered as part of the event.
