RPD arrests former city employee
Former Russellville city employee Chris Scott, 42, was arrested June 4 after local officials were made aware of some suspect lawn equipment.
According to Sgt. Jake Tompkins of the Russellville Police Department, RPD received a phone call from a Belgreen High School official, who informed the department there was some property at the school that might belong to the City of Russellville.
“We were able to get the serial numbers and verify that they did belong to the city,” Tompkins said.
Tompkins said RPD asked who had brought the equipment to the school and who had been using it. Investigators were informed Scott was the individual who had been using the equipment. Two Stihl weed eaters, a hedge trimmer and other equipment was retrieved from the school totaling more than $800 in value, Tompkins said.
The items were reported stolen, and RPD was able to pick up Scott not long after that and interview him. Tompkins said Scott admitted to possessing the stolen items.
Scott was charged with receiving stolen property third degree, which is a class D felony. He is out on bond and is expecting a court date soon.
