James Delmer Nichols

James Delmer Nichols, age 83, of Sylvania, passed away peacefully June 24 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease at Ebeid Hospice Residence, Sylvania.

He was born Nov. 26, 1934, to Semon and Lula Nichols in Vina. James was employed with Johnson Controls for 45 years before retiring in 1998.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John Elmer Nichols and Jack Hammock, and daughter, Cindy Lou Nichols.

James is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Sherranlynn Nichols; daughter, Elizabeth “Becky” Phibbs; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Elva Jones; brother, Joe (Jan) Hammock; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Interment will be private at a later date at Toledo Memorial Park. Newcomer – Northwest Chapel (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions in honor of James are asked to consider the Alzheimer’s Association of Northwest Ohio.
