Jury indicts one for murder

Connie Mae Cody, 58, has been indicted for murder by a grand jury in Franklin County, according to district attorney Joey Rushing.

Cody was arrested and charged in January for the alleged murder of her husband Michael Cody.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver, the couple used to live in Wisconsin and had only been living in Franklin County for a few weeks when the incident occurred.

The FCSO received a call at about 11:30 p.m. Jan. 13. When officers arrived on the scene at Ethan Avenue in the Oak Hill subdivision, just south of Russellville, they reported finding Michael fatally shot.

Michael was pronounced dead at the scene. Connie Mae was arrested and charged with the murder of her husband.

“She’s actually the one that called 911,” Oliver said.

Cody will face arraignment Aug. 23.
