Jam on Sloss Lake returns for 10th year

For the 10th year in a row, Russellville is celebrating Independence Day all day with Jam on Sloss Lake.

“Councilman Cummings has done a great job organizing this, and we hope to have a lot of people come out,” Mayor David Grissom said.

Jam on Sloss Lake is sponsored by the Russellville Gas Board, Russellville Electric Board and Russellville Water and Sewer boards.

“It’s a city effort. All of the departments work together to give back to the community,” Grissom said.

The Cotton Flat Cruisers Car Show will begin at 7 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m.

At 8 a.m. live entertainment will begin with Buford Parker doing a “Tribute to Ray Price.” He will be followed by Jacob Green, Still Here, KGB and South Bound.

There will be a break in the music before the evening line-up starts at 3:50 p.m. with Purpose. Purpose will be followed by Joseph Baldwin, Rewind, The Midnighters and the headliner Darryl Worley, who will take the stage from 8-9:30 p.m.

In classic Fourth of July fashion, there will be a fireworks show following the musical entertainment.

“It’s great that we live in a country where we can celebrate our freedom,” Grissom said. “We don’t realize how blessed we are.”
