RHS Lady Golden Tigers to host softball camp

By Brannon King / For the FCT

Summer is the season for camps, and young softball players looking to learn from talented coaches and players will soon have an opportunity to do so at Russellville High School.

The 2018 Lady Golden Tigers Softball Camp will be held July 10 at the Russellville High School Softball Complex. The camp is open to players in first through sixth grade.

Cost to attend is $35, due at check-in, and checks should be made payable to RHS Softball. Check-in time for the camp is from 9-9:30 a.m., and the camp will take place from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Campers will be able to learn about throwing, fielding, batting, base running and sliding/diving, and the pitchers/catchers camp will cover pitching and catching fundamentals. Russellville head coach Kathryn Montgomery and her staff will focus on the basic skills needed to play.

To register for the camp, contact Montgomery at kathryn.montgomery@rcs.k12.al.us with the camper’s name, age and grade, two emergency contacts and their relation to camper, major allergies and medical conditions, T-shirt size and name of player who recommended the camp.

Those participating should bring a lunch and a drink/water bottle or personal cooler. Campers should wear athletic attire and cleats or tennis shoes. The staff also asks campers to bring along a towel, glove, bat and helmet. Sunscreen, sunglasses, batting gloves and a hat or visor are additional items that might be desired.
