Library welcomes Jason and Company

July 20 the Russellville Public Library is hosting Jason and Company for the first time. The show will start at 1 p.m. and is part of the Libraries Rock summer program at RPL.

“I’ve never seen him live, but I’ve heard very good things about him,” library director Ashley Cummins said.

Ron Lighty is a professional ventriloquist and balloon artist. He has also participated in a documentary film about ventriloquism and has performed on radio and television.

Jason Basswood is the puppet Lighty uses during his ventriloquism act.

Lighty performs at school programs as well as church and ministry programs. He has served as assistant pastor at two churches and was also the principal of a Christian school once.

He also does senior programs and private parties.

Cummins said Jason and Company came highly recommended to her. She heard about him through the Alabama Public Library, which hosts a showcase every year in which Lighty was once featured.
