Apologetics speaker visits Russellville
Aug. 5-6 speaker and educator Ted Wright visited Russellville First Baptist Church and led three different talks concerning Christian apologetics.
Christian apologetics is the “defense and establishment of the Christian faith,” according to the Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry.
Wright is an adjunct professor of apologetics at Southern Evangelical Seminary as well as Charlotte Bible College and Seminary. He has a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and archaeology and a master’s degree in Christian apologetics with a concentration in philosophy. Along with his research, Wright has participated in excavations and founded Epic Archaeology.
Jason Pierce and Paul Wilbanks from Russellville FBC are two of the people responsible for lining up Wright to speak at the church.
“He’s a contemporary of Frank Turek. We’ve known him for about a year now,” Wilbanks said.
Pierce and Wilbanks said they enjoy learning about apologetics and believe it’s important for people to know.
“A lot of people view Christianity as something mythical, but there is proof that what happened in the Bible is real,” Wilbanks said.
“I think there’s a need in this area for knowledge about this,” Pierce added.
Wright is planning another excavation trip for 2019 in which Wilbanks said he is planning to participate.
