Russellville Reads: Library debuts cake decorating class

It has been a rainy day today, and that’s perfect library weather! What’s better than curling up on the couch with a good book or a DVD that you can get at the library for free?

The library has some exciting programs coming up this month. As part of our third Thursday adult programming series, the library is excited to host retired educator and local author, Dianne Pace. She will be reading and discussing her newly published book, “I Love You a Bushel and a Peck.” She will also be signing and have several of her books available for sale at a special price of $13.

The library recently received a very generous donation of cake pans from caterer Lynn Winter from Haleyville. She has agreed to help us premiere the collection, which will be available for checkout later this fall, by teaching a cake decorating class.

All who enroll will leave with a fully decorated cake. There will be a $10 charge to cover the cost of expenses, but comparable classes in the area can range from $25-40. Space will be limited, so call the library to secure your spot.

The library has concluded its semi-annual book sale and would like to thank all who donated books and purchased items during the sale. Gently-used books remain available for purchase in the “friends” section of the library. Where else can you get a hardcover book that’s topping the best-seller list for $2-3?

The library is currently accepting volunteer applications. If you have community service hours to fulfill for National Honor Society or Junior Leadership, or even if you just like to help out, we would love to hear from you.
