RMS presents 10th annual Spooktacular

Russellville Middle School is planning something special for the 10th annual Spooktacular show by: a throwback to the show’s premier theme, 80s Zombie Prom.

Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m., with the help of four tech students, 70 seventh and eighth graders and 40 sixth graders will fill the RCS Auditorium stage and deliver classic 80s songs and choreographed dance numbers while decked out in their best zombiefied 80s prom attire.

“I expect you’ll see a lot of big hair that night,” choral instructor Emily Rush said. An overwhelming majority of the students said they enjoyed getting to go out all out with their costumes – teased hair included.

As far as the music goes, the students have their own favorite performances in the show. The Karma Chameleon group dance and the Walk Like an Egyptian group dance are two favorites, along with The Safety Dance.

“The talent level and involvement level is really high this year,” Rush said.

About 100 students tried out for this class this year, making it the toughest class to get into, Rush said. Students said they are excited about the show and want people to know that they have put a lot of hard work into it – and what they are doing is unique.

Tickets will be $5 for school age and up.
