Homefolks U.S.A.

Hi folks,

Saturday Oct. 20 brought to a close the festivals of 2018 that take place in Franklin County.

“Spruce Pine Day” always draws a lot of folks, and this year was no exception. The day started out with rain in the forecast, but the rain soon began to disappear, and the crowd was really good for 2018. Several more items were added to the museum, and the car show was really nice. The Community Center had a full house to enjoy the food that was prepared.

It was so good to see many of my friends at the festival. Many thanks should go out to those who work so hard to make the festival a success every year.

Entertainment was provided on a flat-bed trailer truck, and everyone was in a “festive” mood.

All the festivals this year in Franklin County were well attended by the locals and many folks from other parts of our county.

The next big event that will take place in Russellville will be the Veteran’s Day Parade.

This parade honors those men and women who served our county. Many of our older veterans have passed away, but we continue to honor and remember each for their great sacrifice they made to keep our country free.

Mr. Grant Atkins does a wonderful job in putting the parade together.

The date for the parade will be Nov. 11. Be sure to check for the time the parade will start, and please make every effort to attend. Your presence is so important.

We should never forget the people who make the great sacrifice for our country. Many paid the ultimate sacrifice, and many were privileged to serve and return.

Many of our great entertainers served our country during World War II. We might note that Jimmy Steward, the movie star, attained the highest military rank in history for an entertainer. Steward rose to the rank of brigadier general in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

Till next time,

Your friend,

Bobby
