NW-SCC college bowl team wins third in first tournament of year

The Northwest-Shoals Community College college bowl team recorded a third-place finish in the team’s first tournament of the 2018-2019 academic year.

NW-SCC competed Oct. 20 at Coastal Alabama Community College in Gulf Shores.

NW-SCC students Mack Elkins and Carly Weeks, both from Phil Campbell and Cameron Vandiver and Jarrod Lasseter, both from Russellville, competed against 15 colleges and universities from three different states.

The team was coached by Sharon Watson, NW-SCC mathematics instructor.

NW-SCC team captain Vandiver earned the award for being the third-highest scorer.

Approximately 70 students competed in the tournament.
