Adult Prom raises money for charity

The first Adult Prom in Russellville saw a good turnout and supported a good cause all in one Nov. 10.

“I love the fact that there was so much unity, and everyone wants me to do it again,” organizer Tammy West said.

More than 100 people showed up for the event at the A.W. Todd Center, West said.

“There are some things I would do differently, but I am definitely going to do it again,” she said.

Proceeds from the event are going to philanthropic causes, a commitment about which West is passionate. She has already donated part of the money to the American Cancer Society.

“We appreciate Tammy West and Ashley Copeland of the adult prom committee for their contribution to the American Cancer Society – Relay For Life of Franklin County,” said Anna Duncan with ACS. “Our community working together as one can make the biggest impact in the fight against cancer.”

West said she is also planning on using the proceeds to help local children in the community with items like clothing, school supplies and basic necessities.
