Belgreen girls blow out Sheffield
Five players hit double figures as the Belgreen Bulldog varsity girls basketball team beat Sheffield 78-20.
Belgreen held Sheffield to just two points in the first quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 20-2. Belgreen extended the lead to 47-7 at halftime, and the route was on. Belgreen led 68-12 at the end of three quarters of play.
Katie Dempsey and Ansley Tate had 14 points and 13 points respectively. Autumn Bragwell and Gabbie Moore scored 12 points each. Gracie Dempsey added 10 points. Emma Willingham scored four points and Megan Smith two points.
Varsity boys
Mason Bragwell scored 24 points, but it wasn’t enough to fend off a very talented Sheffield Bulldog team.
Belgreen led Sheffield 19-14 at the end of the first quarter. Sheffield outscored Belgreen 21-14 in the second quarter to take 35-33 halftime lead and extended the lead to 52-46 in the third quarter.
Belgreen tied the game in the fourth quarter but couldn’t get the lead and lost 68-64.
Brant Bragwell and Scout Bragwell scored 14 points and 12 points respectively. Gaven Taylor added six points, Kostner Bryant three points, Koby Collins two points, Isac Willingham two points and Tanner Warhurst one point.
B-varsity boys
Sheffield beat Belgreen 44-38, with Carson Cox leading the way for the Bulldogs with 16 points.
