Tharptown girls get easy win over Sheffield
The Tharptown Wildcats held the Sheffield Bulldogs to three points in the first half en route to an easy 51-12 win in varsity girls action Friday night.
Tharptown held Sheffield scoreless in the first quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 19-0, and scored 17-3 in the second quarter to hold a commanding 36-3 halftime lead.
Adrianna Borden and Brooke Daily led Tharptown with 14 points and 13 points respectively. Shaylee Wieting added nine points, Aly Vandiver five points, Gracie Montgomery four points, Catie Dawson four points and Macy Petree two points.
In the varsity boys game, Sheffield jumped out to an 18-4 first quarter lead and led the Wildcats 44-16 at halftime in route to a 64-41 win.
Winston Nolen and Edward Lopez led Tharptown with 12 points and 10 points respectively. Carson Petree added five points, Tristan Brasuell four points, Les Montgomery four points, Colton Simmons three points, Ruben Alfaro two points and Hayden Moss one point.
Tharptown struggles at Hatton
Two players combined for 58 points for the Hatton Hornets in an 80-63 win over Tharptown.
Hatton led Tharptown 15-14 at the end of the first quarter but exploded for 24 points in the second quarter to extend the lead to 39-25 at halftime. The Wildcats clawed back in the third quarter, outscoring the Hornets 22-15 to cut the lead to 54-47, but Hatton pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring Tharptown 26-16.
Nolen led Tharptown with 22 points, including 11 points in the third quarter. Lopez followed with 17 points. Petree finished with nine points, Simmons with five points, Montgomery with five points, Moss with three points and Alfaro with two points.
In the varsity girls game, Hatton won convincingly 61-24. No Tharptown player scored in double figures. Daily scored eight points, Borden six points, Kaitlyn Simmons three points, Autumn Montgomery three points, Dawson two points and Jaiden Gaston two points.
