Belgreen gets easy area wins

Belgreen 57, Hackleburg 24

The Belgreen Bulldogs held the Hackleburg Panthers scoreless in the third quarter, keeping the control they grabbed at the beginning of the game, on the way to a 57-24 win.

Gabbie Moore scored nine of her game-high 17 points in the first quarter as Belgreen outpaced Hackleburg 23-12. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 35-19 at halftime and pulled away in the third quarter 48-19.

Following Moore was Emma Dempsey with 11 points. Katie Dempsey added nine points, Autumn Bragwell eight points, Ansley Tate six points, Gracie Dempsey four points and Emma Willingham two points.

Belgreen 70, Vina 51

Bragwell hit five three-pointers and scored 21 points in the Belgreen Bulldogs’ 70-51 area win over the Vina Red Devils last week.

Belgreen jumped out to a 20-12 first quarter lead over the Red Devils and extended that lead to 40-27 by halftime. Belgreen maintained the lead through the third quarter with a 53-40 advantage over Vina.

Following Bragwell, Emma Dempsey added 13 points, and Willingham added 10 points. Gracie Dempsey finished the game with nine points, Moore six points, Tate five points, Megan Smith four points and Katie Smith two points.

Rayleigh Guin led Vina with 19 points, including eight in the fourth quarter. She also went 9-for-13 from the free throw line. Sarah Johnson added 11 points. Sara Scott (7), Kaitlyn King (5), Emma Humphres (5), Abbie Petree (3) and Maddie Mills (1) also scored for the Red Devils.

Varsity boys

Belgreen 67, Hackleburg 54

Belgreen jumped out to a 28-11 first quarter lead and coasted to the easy 67-54 win over Hackleburg.

Belgreen led 40-20 at halftime and 52-33 at the end of the third quarter.

Scout Bragwell led Belgreen with 19 points. He was followed by Mason Bragwell with 12 points, Brant Bragwell with 11 points and Kostner Bryant with 10 points. Isac Willingham added seven points. Gaven Taylor, Koby Collins, Tanner Warhurst and Will Donohoe all scored two points each.

Belgreen 77, Vina 36

The Bulldog boys jumped out to a quick early lead and coasted to an easy win over Vina 77-36.

Belgreen led Vina 32-17 at the end of the first quarter and 54-26 at halftime before cruising to the win.

Mason Bragwell led Belgreen with 13 points. He was followed by Brant Bragwell and Isac Willingham, who scored 12 points each, and Scout Bragwell with 10 points. Bryant added nine points, Taylor six points, Collins six points, Donohoe four points, David Plott three points and Warhurst two points.

Jackson Landers led Vina with 10 points. Braden Moomaw added six points, Haze Weatherford five points, Glen Ashley three points and Braden Pardue two points.
