Myra Joyce Purser

Myra Joyce Purser, 80, passed away Dec. 23, 2018, at her home with her family by her side.

Joyce was born March 4, 1938, in Red Bay to Alexander and Rubie Morrow. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of the Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church for more than 50 years and was known to be adventurous and loved to travel in her later years.

Funeral services will be Dec. 26 at 1 p.m. at Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Barry Raper and Bro. Steve Lindsay officiating. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay,  will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband, John Ralph Purser of Red Bay; four children, David Purser (Beth), Jimmy Purser, Liz Hester (David) and Suzanne McPeak (Scott); one sister, Louise Raper; one brother, Jesse Jones Jr.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Gina Hardin; granddaughters Heather Porter and Amy Hester; three sisters; and four brothers.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Purser, Justin Purser, Adam Hester, Alex Purser, Dylan Hester, Noah Hester, Conner Porter and Matthew Williams.

Visitation will be Dec. 26, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
