Phil Campbell girls take loss

The Phil Campbell girls took only their second loss of the season last week to another out-of-state team. This time their nemesis was the defending state champions, Summertown (Tenn.), in the Times Daily Classic at Central High School in Florence.

Summertown’s defensive pressure was too much for the Bobcats to overcome.

Only four players scored for Phil Campbell. Abby Davis scored all of the Bobcats’ eight first-quarter points. Davis led Phil Campbell with 13 points. Olivia Taylor followed with 11 points. Caitlyn Mills finished the game with six points and Kallie Allen with two points. Katie Thomas pulled down nine rebounds.

Phil Campbell 61, Lexington 33

The Phil Campbell Bobcats got an easy win in the Times Daily Classic over the Lexington Golden Bears 61-33.

Phil Campbell jumped out to a 14-9 first quarter lead. The Bobcats dominated the second quarter, outscoring Lexington 27-10 to take a 41-19 halftime lead. Phil Campbell extended thE lead to 60-27 at the end of the third quarter.

Davis led the Bobcats with 18 points, including 11 in the first quarter alone AND was named to the all-tournament team.  Caitlynn Mills followed Davis with 13 points. Kallie Allen added 10 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Katie Thomas contributed eight points and eight rebounds. Trinity Vandiver finished the game with five points, Mackenzie Scott with four points and Kaci Harris with three points.
