Red Bay sweeps Hatton
The Red Bay Tigers used another solid defensive effort to take down an opponent. This time it was Hatton that had trouble getting open looks and knocking down shots, as Red Bay won 50-27.
The Tigers led the Hornets 14-5 at the end of the first quarter and extended their lead to 29-16 at halftime. Red Bay increased that lead to 41-21 by the end of the third quarter before cruising to the win.
Nine players scored for the Tigers, led by Colton Corum with nine points Lane Shewbart added eight points, Tanner Hamilton seven points, Gath Weatherford six points, Clay Allison five points, Noah Brewer five points, Braden Ray five points, Hunter Bays three points and Jalen Vinson two points.
In the varsity girls game, Reagan Kuykendall and Mallori Miller combined for 25 of Red Bay’s 37 points in a solid 37-33 win over the Hatton Hornets.
Red Bay jumped out to a 9-2 lead over Hatton in the first quarter. The Hornets came back in the second quarter, outscoring Red Bay 16-10 to cut the Tigers’ lead to one, 19-18, at the half.
Hatton claimed the lead in the third quarter, outscoring Red Bay 8-6 to take a 26-25 lead, but Red Bay took over the game in the fourth quarter, outpacing Hatton 12-7 for the win.
Kuykendall led Red Bay with 15 points, followed by Miller with 10 points. Macy Faulkner added five points, Destiny McCollister three points, Lila Blackburn two points and Cassidy Kuykendall two points.
In the B-varsity boys game, Red Bay defeated Hatton 38-31. Cam McKinney led the Tigers with nine points.
