Tharptown gets wins over Belgreen, Vina

The Tharptown Wildcats got off to hot start to earn a win over county rival Belgreen last week, 8-3.

Tharptown scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning to cruise to the win. The Wildcats outhit the Bulldogs 6-4 and took advantage of four Belgreen errors.

Brooke Daily had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-3 scoring two runs. Leslie Staggs scored two runs, and Madison Vandiver had a bases-clearing triple for the Wildcats.

Taylor Cameron got the win for Tharptown, going three strong innings, striking out four and allowing only one earned run.

Camie Terrell had two RBIs for the Bulldogs, and Bailey Wood had a double.

Tharptown 16, Vina 0

Olivia Ergle shut out the Vina Red Devils last week. Ergle pitched three innings and struck out six batters, and she allowed only one hit and one walk.

Tharptown scored four runs in the first, six in the second and six in the third to cruise to the easy win. The Wildcats piled up 13 hits in the game.

Shaylee Wieting went 3-for-3 and scored three runs. Brooke Daily went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Madison Vandiver went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and scored two runs. Catie Dawson went 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored. Olivia Ergle and Olivia Darracott both scored two runs each.

Tharptown 3, Shoals Christian 2

Staggs laid down a sacrifice bunt to score Cameron in the bottom of the third inning to give the Tharptown Wildcats a 3-2 win over the Shoals Christian Flame.

Wieting went 2-for-3 and scored a run. Daily had a hit and an RBI and scored a run. Cameron had a hit, a walk and an RBI and scored a run.

Ergle pitched four innings and struck out five batters. She allowed five hits and two runs.
