Vina boys get walk-off win over Cherokee

The Vina Red Devils improved to 3-1 with a dramatic walk-off win over the Cherokee Indians Friday.

Chance Kennedy reached on a bunt single and eventually came around to score on a wild pitch to beat the Indians.

Vina took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Cherokee tied the game in the top of the fourth and took a one-run lead in the top of the fifth.

Vina tied the game back up in the bottom of the fifth, when Jackson Landers stroked a double into leftfield, scoring Haze Weatherford.

Cherokee scored again in the top of the sixth to take a 5-4 lead, but Vina responded again in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game when Isaac Shelton scored on a wild pitch. Shelton scored two runs in the game.

Four pitchers took the mound for the Red Devils and combined to strike out 13 Cherokee batters.
