Belgreen picks up wins over Dora, Athens

The Belgreen Bulldogs picked up a couple of dominant spring break wins over Dora (7-3) and Athens (5-0).

In the Dora game, Belgreen jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Dora scored a run in the top of the third to cut the Bulldogs’ lead to 2-1, but Belgreen put the game away with five runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Kelsey Wilson had a big game at the plate, going 3-for-3, including a double, with two RBIs, she and scored a run. Katie Dempsey had a double, two RBIs and a run. Noelle Willingham also had two RBIs.

Sydney Borden was able to score two runs from the top of the lineup. Borden also got the win for the Bulldogs, pitching a complete game, striking out three and allowing two earned runs on five hits.

Borden also got the job done against Athens, throwing a shutout to help Belgreen win 5-0.

Athens was able to accumulate eight hits, but Belgreen prevented any runs from crossing home plate.

Camie Terrell led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and three RBIs.

Noelle Willingham, Kaley Chandler and Jaelyn Johnson also crossed the plate for Belgreen.

In other games during the week, Emma Dempsey, Camie Terrell and Kaley Wilson all had a two-hit performance in a 3-2 loss to Elkmont. Katie Dempsey had two hits, including a double, in an 11-1 loss to East Limestone, and Kaley Wilson went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs in a 12-3 loss to West Morgan.
