Tharptown gets wins over Tremont, Vina

The Tharptown Wildcats closed out spring break on a high note, winning two games Saturday at Vina. The Wildcats beat Tremont, Miss., 8-4 and Vina 6-2.

Tremont led Tharptown 4-3 after two innings, but the Wildcats put four runs on the board in the bottom of the third inning to take the lead for good and win 8-4. The Wildcats got the win despite being outhit six hits to four.

Britton Kennamore started the game for Tharptown and pitched two innings, giving up two earned runs on two hits. Greyson Suddard came in relief and got the win, striking out three and not allowing another run to cross the plate.

Suddard went 2-for-3 at the plate, including a double, with three RBIs.

Hunter White scored three runs from the top of the lineup, while Dawson Higgins scored two runs from the bottom of the lineup, for Tharptown.

In the Vina game, Tharptown took advantage of five Red Devil errors to win 6-2 in the county rivalry matchup.

Jayden Mitchell and Hunter White combined for the win. Mitchell struck out five and White three.

White went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and scored a run. Briley Kerby scored two runs for Tharptown.
