BHS, THS girls claim area wins

The Belgreen Bulldogs got an area win over the Hackleburg Panthers last week 12-2.

Belgreen jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning and didn’t look back, easily defeating the Panthers.

Belgreen amassed 16 hits in the game.

Katie Dempsey had three hits, including a double and four RBIs, and scored two runs. Camie Terrell had two hits and an RBI and scored two runs. Emma Dempsey had two hits and an RBI and scored two runs. Kaycee Wilson had two hits and two RBIs and scored a run.

Sydney Borden allowed two hits and two runs and struck out eight.

Tharptown 18, Colbert County 1

The Tharptown Wildcats dominated the Colbert County Indians last week 18-1 in an area matchup.

Tharptown scored five runs in the first inning, three in the second, two in the third and four in both the fourth and fifth innings. The Wildcats piled up 17 hits.

Several Wildcats had good days at the plate, but Catie Dawson and Olivia Ergle stood out. Dawson had three hits and four RBIs and scored four runs. Ergle had four hits and five RBIs and scored a run.

Shaylee Wieting scored four runs. Macy Petree had a triple. Olivia Darracott, Taylor Cameron and Ergle all had doubles.

Ergle got the win, striking out seven and giving up no earned runs on two hits.
