Library launches summer reading

The Russellville Public Library is hosting its summer reading program starting at the end of May, and the theme this year is Alabama: A Universe of Stories.

May 31 is the deadline to register for this free program.

RPL’s summer plans will include two big events this year: The first one will be a visit from Animal Tales, and the second one will be a visit from the McWane Science Center.

Animal Tales is an educational program that features live animals. Presenters deliver interesting facts about the animals they bring and involve the audience to make it a fun, interactive experience for the children.

It won’t be the first time for Animal Tales or the McWane Science Center to visit RPL. Library director Ashley Cummins said they are both great programs children really enjoy.

She also said there will be additional, smaller programs going on throughout the summer that will be announced at a later date.
