Russellville High plans youth football, soccer camps

The Russellville High School football/soccer field will be the site for a couple of athletic camps during the last weekend of the month.

The first opportunity for young athletes to improve their games will be the annual Shoals Kicking Camp, for those looking to work on their football skills, June 28.

On the following day, soccer players will be on the field for the RHS Fundamental Soccer Camp June 29.

Coach Mike King’s Shoals Kicking Development group will be putting on the football kicking camp from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. June 28 at the Russellville High School football stadium. The camp is designed for punters, place kickers – conventional and soccer style – and snappers. The fee is $125 per camper, and if three or more campers from the same school sign up, the fee will then be $75 per kicker.

Enrollment is limited to enable more personal attention to the basics, and campers will receive T-shirts and lunch.

Each camper should bring a football and be dressed ready to kick. Coaches and parents are welcome. For more information visit shoalskicking.org or call 256-366-2104.

June 29 the Russellville High School varsity boys and girls will lead the elite Fundamental Soccer Camp, which will focus on basic and advanced soccer fundamentals.

The camp will be from 8 a.m. until noon and is designed for third- through fifth-graders. Registration on the day of the camp will be from 7-8 a.m., and the cost is $35, with snacks and drinks provided. Campers are asked to bring a ball if they have one. The camp will be held rain or shine.

For more information contact Coach Trey Stanford at trey.stanford@rcs.k12.al.us or 256-335-1667.
