RHS announces three youth camps

Summer is the season for youth camps, and Russellville High School is the place to be for children looking to improve their athletic skills.

Three camps will be held during the month of July at RHS – for children who play softball, basketball and football. These opportunities for fun and learning have been added to the list of June dates for soccer and football kicking clinics.

Softball

The Tiny Tiger Softball Camp will be held July 8 at the RHS Softball Complex. The annual event will take place this year from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is for first- through sixth-graders. Cost is $40; if registered by July 1, campers get a T-shirt.

After July 1, campers can register and pay at camp but will not receive a T-shirt.

Snack and lunch will be provided. Contact Coach Kathryn Montgomery at kathryn.montgomery@rcs.k12.al.us for more information.

Basketball

A youth basketball camp will be held July 15-16 at the Russellville Middle School gym from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., open to children entering kindergarten through sixth grades.

The Russellville basketball program will host the camp, and instruction will be provided by the RHS basketball staff and varsity players. Early registration cost is $50, if registered and paid by July 10. Late registration and walk-in cost will be $60, and a multi-family discount is available, with $15 off per siblings.

Lunch will be provided. For more information contact Coach Jermaine Groce at 256-668-4414 and visit goldentigersathletics.com for a camp brochure.

Football

Russellville football will be having a Youth Football Camp and Ladies Night Out July 22 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The RHS staff will conduct a youth football camp for children in grades kindergarten through eighth, with instruction from Golden Tiger coaches and players.

In conjunction, all ladies ages 15 and older are invited to attend a Football 101 Ladies Night Out clinic, where Coach John Ritter and members of his staff will cover football facts and phrases and the daily routines of the Golden Tiger football players and have a Q&A session with the coaches. The ladies will be provided an opportunity to participate in some light drills with the youth campers.

Door prizes and snacks will be provided for the ladies participating in the clinic, and pizza will be provided at the conclusion for the youth camp attendees.

Cost for an individual camper or Football 101 attendee is $20. A $30 special group rate will be offered for one camper with one Football 101 attendee.

To register early, go to goldentigersathletics.com. Walk-ups on the day of the event are also welcome.
