Tharptown cheerleaders prep for season with summer camp

The Tharptown cheerleaders competed in their summer camp recently at Gulf Shores.

The Wildcats cheer squad received two trophies: All Superior and Most Improved. Rising senior Addisyn Frederick was selected to the All-American squad.

“I am very proud of how hard the girls worked at camp,” said Cheryl Letson, the Tharptown varsity cheer coach. “I am exceptionally proud of the friendships they made with other schools. Multiple coaches bragged on our squad. Although we were a small squad, our girls performed with high expectations.”

Members of the varsity squad are Frederick, Michelle Betancourt, Olivia Ergle, Esperanza Jimenez, Angel Graham, Madison Jones, and Jersey O’Connor.

The Tharptown junior varsity squad also camped at the beach. The junior Wildcats placed third in the rally routine for dance and placed third in the cheer routine. The girls received two “Excellent” ribbons – one for cheer and one for dance.

“The JV squad worked hard this week and grew in several areas,” said junior varsity coach Brooke Harris. “They learned several new cheers and dances they will be using to cheer on our Wildcats this season.”

Members of the junior varsity squad are Jacie Harris, Madie Harris, Kyndall Morgan, Morgan Vandiver, Krymson Tverberg, Kallie Perez, Kourtney Brown, Katie Harrison, Kaden Woodard, Layla Hood, Erica Borden, Harlee Fisher and Kyleigh Bryant.
