Back Door at the Mason Jar serves up shaved ice in Red Bay

Sheri and Jody Farris, owners of the restaurant Mason Jar on Main, 102 4th Ave. SE, Red Bay, recently expanded what they offer.

June 21 was the official grand opening of Back Door at the Mason Jar, located in the back of their restaurant. It connects to the restaurant area but also has its own entrance, offering shaved ice and other treats.

“Our signature flavors have been lovingly perfected with combinations of ice cream and whipped cream and shaved ice,” said Sheri Farris. “I have worked extremely hard to get everything just right.”

The shop offers a wide variety of shaved ice flavors, including signature combinations like Pixie Dust – grape shaved ice, whipped cream, cream, vanilla ice cream, whipped topping and gold sprinkles – and War Eagle – blue shaved ice, orange sherbet, cream, whipped topping and blue sprinkles.

Back Door hours are currently Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1-6 p.m. Offerings include a diverse selection of shaved ice and ice cream options as well as cake pops, sundaes, banana splits and strawberry lemonade.
