FCBOE names Brooklyn Clark Tharptown softball coach

Tharptown’s new softball coach is no stranger to winning championships as a player. Now she wants to translate that success to the coaching side.

Brooklyn Clark was named the head softball coach for the Wildcats at the most recent Franklin County Board of Education meeting.

Clark played college softball from 2012-2016 – two years at Louisiana State University-Eunice before transferring to the University of North Alabama. In her four years of college softball, Clark has been a part of three national championship teams: two at LSU-Eunice and one at UNA.

Clark is a two-time All-American and two-time All-Gulf South Conference, and she capped off her playing career by being named the 2016 Division 2 National Player of the Year.

“I am so excited for this opportunity,” said Clark. “It has always been a dream of mine to run my own program. The students and faculty have been amazing to work with and welcomed me with open arms.

“I knew when I stepped on campus it was going to be a great fit for me,” she added. “I can’t wait to get to work and begin our road to a state championship.”

After Clark’s playing days ended, she was a graduate assistant coach for UNA for two years and helped coach at Brooks High School last year.

She has also coached travel ball for three years with the Kraze and Prospex organizations.
