Marty Haggard honors late father with tribute show at Roxy

Fans of country music can expect a night of reminiscing Thursday as Marty Haggard performs at the Historic Roxy Theatre in A Tribute to Merle Haggard, My Dad.

The show will begin Sept. 5 at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $26 for advanced general admission and will be $30 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at at martyhaggardtickets.com, by phone at 1-800-838-3006 and at Russellville Florist & Gifts, 14001 Highway 43, Suite 2, 256-332-7771.

The night will include Marty Haggard, Merle Haggard’s oldest son, performing some of his father’s greatest hits while sharing stories of memories with his father.

Marty had the opportunity to tour with his Merle for several years before signing his own record contract and receiving a nomination for the best new male country artist for his single “Trains Make Me Lonesome.”

In 2010 he recorded a tribute album with 15 of his father’s top hits.  From there, he began playing a tribute show in Branson, Mo.

Marty played the show in Branson for two years before deciding to take the show on the road.
