Two county teams face off this Friday
Three games this week involve county teams: Vina will host Phil Campbell for homecoming, Russellville will host West Point, and Tharptown will travel to Tanner.
Red Bay is off this week.
Vina (2-2; 2-0) is coming off a huge blowout win over the Cherokee Indians. The Red Devils are averaging 19.5 points per game and giving up 31 points per game.
Phil Campbell (1-2; 1-1) is trying to rebound from a home loss to Clements. Phil Campbell is averaging 19 points per game and giving up 35 points per game.
The Bobcats and Red Devils haven’t played each other much in football, but when they have, Phil Campbell has won.
The last time Vina won this game was in 1963.
Phil Campbell won last year’s game 47-2.
Russellville (3-0; 2-0) is coming off an easy win over Hayden. The Golden Tigers are averaging 38.7 points per game while giving up 16 points per game.
West Point (2-2; 1-1) has struggled so far this season, scoring 25.75 points per game while giving up 23. 8 points per game.
The Golden Tigers man-handled West Point in recent years, winning all seven times the two teams have played. Russellville won last year 53-20.
Tharptown (1-3; 0-2) has played well against some good teams early, but depth has cost the Wildcats as the game drags on. Tharptown is scoring 13.7 points per game but giving up 37 points per game.
Tanner is struggling as well. The Rattlers (0-4; 0-2) have yet to win a game. They are scoring 12.5 points per game and giving up 37 points per game.
Tharptown lost last year’s game 64-14.
